Online public services
Central and local government are transitioning to online communication with their citizens. It makes daily life easier for you as a citizen, with better services and quicker replies from the public sector. When the public sector sends important mail to you, you will be notified by SMS or e-mail as to where you shall log in to read the letter. If you want to continue to receive letters in paper format, you must opt out of online communication.
ID-porten is a common log in solution to online public services, and provides secure log in through the use of electronic ID (e-ID).
If you want to have services carried out by central and local government online, you must have an electronic ID in order to be able to log yourself in. An electronic ID is important for confirming that you are the person you claim to be. You can choose between four electronic ID alternatives when you want to log in to public services:
