The mobile telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of citizens are collected in the common contact register.
The advantage of a common contact register is that you as a citizen do not need to provide this information to all the different public agencies you are in contact with.
You update your contact information yourself and only need to do this in one place.
You can choose to register either your e-mail address or mobile telephone number, or both.
The common contact register is used when you log on with the ID-porten to various public services. For example when completing a tax return in Altinn, or when the central and local government need to notify you electronically of important information. Only the central and local government have access to this register.
The common contact register may contain your mobile phone number and e-mail address, information about which digital mailbox you have chosen, your choice of language and any preferences you have regarding electronic communication.
