Online public services
Central and local government are transitioning to online communication with their citizens. It makes daily life easier for you as a citizen, with better services and quicker replies from the public sector. When the public sector is sending you important mail, you will be notified by SMS or e-mail as to where you have to log on to read the letter. If you want to continue to receive letters on paper format, you must opt out of online communication.
ID-porten is a common log in solution to online public services, and provides secure log in through the use of electronic ID (e-ID).
If you want to use online public services from the government and municipality, you must have an electronic ID (e-ID) to identify yourself. An electronic ID is important to confirm that you are who you claim to be, and to access information about yourself.
