Different levels of security
The online public services have different levels of security. It is service owners that determines which level of security their services requires – security at a substantial level (level 3) or at the highest level of security (level 4).
A substantial level of security
MinID is an electronic ID that provides login on a substantial level of security (level 3). It uses a two-factor security solution. MinID login consists of the national identity number, personal password and single-use code by SMS or a PIN-code from a code letter.
The highest level of security
BankID, BankID on mobile, Buypass and Commfides provides electronic ID at the highest level of security (level 4). This is also a two-factor security solution. In addition you have to show up to confirm your identify.
With the highest level of security, you gain access to for example health information. If you are logged in with MinID, but want to log on to a service that requires a higher level of security, you must log on again with BankID, BankID on mobile, Buypass or Commfides.
