If you want the course to be a practical course in creating MinID, the participants must have obtained a PIN-code letter for MinID before the course starts.

Electronic identification has several names, but means the same thing: electronic identification online, electronic identity, electronic ID, e-ID or eID.
MinID is delivered and operated by the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir).
You can get MinID from the year you turn 13.
Citizens with D-numbers can get MinID.
MinID is free of charge and has a substantial level of security (level 3).

It is not enough to write who you are with words online, to access information related to you.
You must prove with a personal electronic ID that you are who you claim to be.
It is the citizens themselves who must obtain electronic identification (e-ID) to use online.
You can select between six electronic ID`s to log on to online public services.

You can access ID-porten from a public website, and from there select MinID.
Enter a public agency’s URL in the address bar of your browser. In the example we have used www.nav.no.
Click on log in to get to ID-porten.
You can also use a search engine to find a public web site/public service, or find a service at www.norge.no

To obtain the electronic ID MinID, you need a PIN-code letter.
You can order a PIN-code letter through ID-porten, by clicking on MinID.
You can also contact helpdesk to order a PIN-code letter, 800 30 300.
You can order a PIN code letter from www.idporten.no.

NB! Here you do not need to fill in anything in the fields of personal ID number and password. Click directly on 'Order PIN codes'.
Before you can create your personal electronic ID MinID, you must order a PIN-code letter.
The PIN letter will be sent to the postal address you have registered in the National Population Register.

The PIN-code letter is sent to your mailbox. Your full name must be clearly marked on your mailbox.
The delivery time is normally 2-5 business days. The PIN letter is only sent to the postal address you are registered with in the National Population Register.

You must always use the correct PIN-code letter. The date on the letter must match the date on the screen. The PIN codes are personal, don't give them to anyone. Take good care of the PIN code letter, you may need it for later. It lasts for many years.
You may need the PIN-code letter as an additional solution for login if you forget your password, or if you have changed your mobile number or email address. If you need to log in from abroad, it may be easier with the PIN-code letters, as the SMS code is not always reliable due to roaming charges.

Once you have received the PIN-code letter in your mailbox, go to the public website you want to log on to.
Click on “Log in”.
Click on “MinID” in ID-porten.

Click on 'Register as new user' to bring up the image where you start the registration.

When you have received your PIN-code letter, click on «I have PIN codes»
If someone has not ordered a PIN letter, they can order one by clicking on: “I don’t have any PIN codes”.

Follow the instuctions on your screen.

You will be notified on the screen, which codes from your PIN-code letter you should enter. You must always use the correct PIN-code letter, check that the PIN codes are in your name. The date on the letter must match the date on the screen.
If you have already created MinID, you will be notified after entering the codes from the code letter.

Create your own password. The password must contain at least 8 characters: a combination of letters A-Z, digits 0-9 and special letters.
Remember your password. You will use this password every time you log on with MinID.
If you forget your password, you can create a new one by clicking «forgotten password?»

If you do not have an e-mail address, you will need to register your mobile phone number in the next step.

Enter your mobile phone number without space.
If you have a foreign mobile phone number, remember to enter the correct country code.

Make sure your e-mail address and your mobile phone number is correct.
To change your contact information, click on the pencil icon.
Make sure to click on “exit and log out”.
To get MinID, you do not have to register both e-mail and mobile number, but it is an advantage.
Your mobile phone number and e-mail address will be registered in the common contact register, which is used by public authorities to get in contact with you.

Norge.no has collected many services from the central and local government to which you can log on to. You can look up a specific service, you can find a service based on the life situation you are in, and you can search for services on Norge.no
On Norge.no, you can log on and update your contact information. Central and local government will use this information when they contact you. You can also find information about digital mailbox.
